The National Arts Centre (NAC) visited the Centre for Newcomers for two evenings which included a workshop on community engagement for diverse artists, exploring methods and strategies for both teaching and sharing music facilitated by Samantha and an interactive musical performance by Samantha Whelen Kotkas and Walter MacDonald White Bear. A unique one of kind experience, the evening produced some beautiful music as well as a lot of fun and learning for all those in attendance.

Meet Music Alive Teaching Artist Samantha Whelan Kotkas. The Music Alive Program inspires and encourages active participation in the arts by providing school visits from professional teaching musicians and programming that celebrates local culture and artists.
